When I became a teacher thirty-five years ago, I had no clue what I was doing. I had finished my half year of student teaching, but being in charge of my own classroom was an entirely different animal. The internet had not yet been invented. Resources for new teachers were limited to what was available at the local teacher resource store and your school district’s inservice offerings. My greatest teachers were my grade level colleagues who took me under their wing. They took a newbie, whose ink was barely dry on her education diploma, and guided me on what I needed to do to create an organized and well-run classroom. I am forever grateful to these generous women.

I felt the same way when I became my younger daughter’s Girl Scout leader back in 2008. Information on what to do was limited, even on the internet. I leaned on my teaching expertise to figure it out, and over the thirteen years leading my daughter’s troop, honed my leadership skills.

With the upcoming scouting year fast approaching, I have spent the summer creating a new product line for Girl Scout troop management. Getting started is not easy, especially when you are new. If you are a seasoned leader, then you know how much time and planning goes into running your troop. My Girl Scout Troop Management product line is here to help.

Girl Scout Troop Management Sponge Activities for Daisies, Brownies, and Juniors

A sponge activity is something that Girl Scout leaders give to their troop to work on as they come in the room or to keep the girls occupied as leaders talk to parents, collect paperwork, or finish setting up. When your girls enter the room knowing that a task will be on hand, it creates boundaries and expectations, and sets the tone for the rest of the meeting. Children thrive on routine and knowing what is expected of them.

These 50 Sponge Activities are for Daisies through Juniors, and can be adapted to any of these levels. Some will become favorites that you will be asked to do over and over again.

Girl Scout Troop Planners for Daisy Leaders, Brownie Leaders, Junior Leaders, and Cadette Leaders

I am old school. Maybe it is because it is what I am used to, but when I am using pen and paper, I never have to worry about an uncharged electronic device. My planners, whether for Girl Scouts or for school, were always in my bag, ready for whenever I needed them.

I have created informational troop leader binders that have both color and black and white pages. Simply print them out and three hole punch into your binder. One purchase is good for two years, or three if you lead Cadettes. Everything you need, from Badge Trackers to Allergy Trackers, plus a calendar and so much more, are included.
