When I was growing up, I loved the Little House books by Laura Ingalls Wilder. My yellow bordered paperbacks were read over and over again. It is because of her books that I learned how to embroider, needlepoint and learn how to bake from scratch. I thought her way of living was so cool!
Little House on the Prairie, the television show which aired on NBC, was a staple of my childhood as well. My friend and I would call each other after every episode and hash it out.
I have always wanted to create a Girl Scout Little House on the Prairie fun patch program. I know that I am not alone in my love for this book series and television program.

Last month, I finally had the time to sit down and create the fun patch and all of its requirements.
Introducing, the unofficial Girl Scout Little House on the Prairie Fun Patch .
Note: There is a discontinued Little House fun patch from the Nashville, Tennessee Girl Scouts. The patches are no longer available. The GSEIWI also has a “Living Like Laura” patch program, that is an official GSUSA program. Their patch has their Council initials on it. My requirements are different and there are dozens of activities from which to choose, along with pictures and step-by-step directions. For example, in the Cooking section, there are about two dozen recipes to choose from. You can even tie in a food badge while earning this fun patch!

This patch is unofficial.
Activities to earn the unofficial Girl Scout Little House on the Prairie fun patch include:

- Laura Ingalls Wilder trivia games
- Photos of Laura and her family
- A virtual field trip to Laura Ingalls WIlder’s homes
There are a few dozen activities included in this resource that have been culled from all over the internet. There are a lot of Laura and Little House fans out there, and they have created blog posts and entire website devoted to her.
This program is also a fun activity for multi-level troops.
Where on the Uniform Does the Little House Fun Patch Go?
This is not an official Girl Scout badge, so it is considered a patch. It goes on the back of the vest or sash. That being said, there are no badge police. If you want to put it on the front of the vest, that is your choice. My daughter earned these kinds of patches from other creators, and I sewed them onto the front of her vest. No one said a word about it when she bridged to Adult.
How to Earn the Unofficial Girl Scout Little House on the Prairie Fun Patch
At the present time, there is no Daisy level patch. Those will be available in early 2024.
Brownies will complete 5 activities
Juniors will complete 6 activities
Cadettes, Seniors and Ambassadors will complete 8 activities (this is the rectangle shaped patch for all of these levels.)
This program can also be used for fundraising! Older girls can run the stations as younger girls earn the patch. This can also be used as an SU wide event.
