7 Girl Scout Fun Patch Sites for Leaders

Leaders like to give fun patches for the activities they do with their troop that are not badge related. Here are my favorite Girl Scout Fun Patch sites where you can buy what you need for your girls.

Updated October 2022

I am going to be honest with you, I had no idea fun patches even existed until my troop became Girl Scout Brownies. When I look at my daughter’s Daisy vest, the back is blank. It’s okay…she has her perpetual Girl Scout scrapbook, with dozens of pictures from her two years as a Daisy Scout..

What are Girl Scout Fun Patches?

In this recently updated blog post about Girl Scout Fun Patches, I share the difference between a badge and a fun patch.

Do You Have to Give a Girl Scout Fun Patch for Every Activity?

The short answer is no, you do not.

Once I discovered that there were fun patches, I was very selective about which ones I bought for my girls. First of all, we did not sell cookies and I had to make the dues I collected last the entire year. If I purchased a patch for their uniform, it had to have a significant meaning.

There are leaders who buy a patch for everything. As someone who is in her fourth decade of working with children, I see constant rewards as diluting the thrill of receiving it. It becomes an expectation, not a surprise. Giving their troop so many patches is costly, unless you buy them in the Girl Scout Facebook groups.

You do what works for your troop.

Of course, you can buy fun patches at the GSUSA website. I want to show the other options that are available for leaders, because one site cannot possibly fit everyone’s needs.

I have personally purchased fun patches from many of these sites, and have that noted after the description. The ones where I have not, I have searched their Facebook groups and others for leader feedback. They have received great reviews from other leaders or it would not have put them on this list.

Some of the sites mentioned are badge work, but not official GSUSA badges, Therefore, they are “supposed” to be worn on the back of the uniform. However, I put mine on the front of the uniform because it was badge work.
