With cookie season almost over, now is the time to have a fun meeting. Your troop can earn the Girl Scout Junior Simple Meals badge with a Pi Day celebration.

There is a light at the end of the cookie tunnel. Most troops are in the middle of selling, while others have decided to stop. Either way, here is a fun badge for your troop to earn.

What is Pi Day?

According to History.com:

March 14 marks Pi Day, an annual celebration of the mathematical sign pi. Founded in 1988 by physicist Larry Shaw, March 14 was selected because the numerical date (3.14) represents the first three digits of pi, and it also happens to beĀ Albert Einstein’s birthday.

Why Celebrate Pi Day and Earn the Girl Scout Junior Simple Meals Badge?

Keeping your troop interested in staying in scouting is very important during the Junior years. There is a tremendous drop in the number of girls who remain in scouts when they enter middle school. Keeping Girl Scouts fun is a retention tool. What you do during your troop meetings should in no way resemble school work. Do things and have experiences with your girls that they would not otherwise have.
