10 Free Summer Reading Programs For Kids 2023

10 Free Summer Reading Programs For Kids 2023

There are more than 10 free summer reading programs for kids that are available to your troop.

One of the things I loved as a child was spending my free time reading during the summer. Trips to the library were exciting, as I could check out several new books to pass my days away.

As a mom, when my children were younger, I signed them up for all of the free summer reading programs that were available at that time. My children looked forward to earning prizes, and this educator mom enjoyed the snuggle time and preventing “summer slide” (not keeping the skills that were learned that year in school).

The site We Are Teachers has the list, as well as the links to the various free summer reading programs for kids that are available.

Where Can I Find More Free Summer Reading Programs For Kids 2023

In addition to the free summer reading program list linked above, look in your local community for more opportunities. For example, when my children were younger, our local bank deposited $10 into their savings account when they read ten books. Small businesses may offer something as well, like a free ice cream or bakery item.

Participating in a free summer reading program for kids is an optional activity for your troop. As the leader, you can pass along this information and have the parents do with it what they will. You can give any girl in the troop a fun patch after completion or the parents can buy it on their own.

As of this publication date, Snappylogos has reading patches for as low as 34 cents. Just put the word “reading” in the search bar.

Advantage Emblem has 2023 dated summer reading patches in limited quantities. You can find them here.

Are you planning on having your child or troop participate in a free summer reading program for kids?
